Dear Joel,

As you may know, Gordon College is inviting applications for a full time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Computer Science.    This is an especially important search as I will probably be retiring in the next several years and we very much want to find someone who can assume leadership of the program.  I'm writing you to personally ask if you would please pass the attached position announcement to anyone you know that might be a good fit for us.  Certainly we'd love to hear from any of your former students who have gone on to get a PhD in CS or a related field, but also from anyone else you know that may be ready to provide overall direction to a CS program.   Although the search has just started, we will begin reviewing applications in November as we're trying to get a jump on the normal search process.  The ideal candidate will have

• A PhD in computer science or closely related field completed by the time of appointment
• A passion for teaching undergraduates
• A vision for computer science in a liberal-arts setting, with a balanced emphasis on both preparation for careers in industry and research
• A commitment to research that can include undergraduates, ideally with applications within the natural sciences
• A strong commitment to the Christian mission of the College,
