Software Engineer, Associate - Grand Rapids, MI


As a member of the IS SCM Warehouse Management Systems team you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting a suite of world class in-house developed warehouse management solutions.



You will be part of a dynamic and energetic team that is recognized for maintaining a strong business process knowledge along with a close relationship with our business users.



The key to success in this role is a desire to exceed customer expectations and a drive to learn the business process and the technologies that support those processes.  This role is also expected to collaborate with internal IS teams and business users across GFS.



Essential functions include:

  *   Responds to system and user initiated issues including job failures and system performance
  *   Develops and delivers tactical request and enhancements (software upgrades, data extracts, functional enhancements, coding standards, and performance improvements)
  *   Performs integrated testing of systems for accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance
  *   Learns the business processes we support through our technology systems



The ideal candidate for this position will have these attributes:

  *   Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field is preferred
  *   One to three years previous software development experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  *   Experience with Java, SQL, and Unix/Linux preferred
  *   Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills
  *   Solid customer focus, teamwork, innovation, creativity, and relationship building skills
  *   Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  *   Effective time management and organizational skills
