>
> Dear department chairs, past and present CSR Governing Board members, other Calvin clients and friends, and Calvin Matters readers:
>
> [Please share this opportunity with interested faculty and students! However, your selective judgment is very helpful—mass dissemination to entire lists of majors usually results in wasted effort for students and for CSR.]
>
> RECRUITMENT of students and imminent/recent grads
> We are looking for very talented and dedicated new recruits (for both immediate and future positions) among current Calvin students and imminent or recent graduates. Do you know a student, impending graduate or recent graduate with capacity to learn rapidly, a technical mind, an interest in research, and a strong self-motivating work ethic? If she or he is looking for work starting in late May or early June, we’d like to talk to him or her about CSR. (Positions starting in Fall 2015 are conceivable but less likely to be available.)
>
> We have several openings for undergraduate Research Assistants and two staff Research Specialist positions for one- to two-year terms full time. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in multicultural relations (especially Spanish language competence) and those with GIS and/or programming skills.
>
> For more information and an online application, direct potential candidates to our Employment Opportunities page or to search for the Center for Social Research in the CalvinLink system. Direct inquiries are welcome to Kandin Unger (for student positions; Kandin will serve a second year as Research Associate) and to Laura Luchies(for recent-grad staff positions). Interested candidates may also schedule visits to CSR with Kathy Bardolph (x6-7799).
>
> BACKGROUND
> Next year will be an exciting year at CSR. Our engagement with Grand Rapids as a community is deepening, and we have an array of fresh academic and community research work, especially the Kent County Deliberative Poll, our inaugural CSR-initiated collaborative community research initiative.
>
> We are losing both of our full-time Research Specialists to intentional turnover this summer. Owen Selles will have served a storied two-year career at CSR boosting our technical toolkit and reputation into the stratosphere. He is moving on to graduate school in environmental science. We’ll also celebrate Kyung-Sung (Greg) Kim’s year of incomparably mature and insightful service to Gatherings of Hope and many other projects; he returns to Korea for his mandatory military service.
>
> Your feedback on your experience with CSR and our team members is always welcome. Thanks!
>
> Blessings on each of you and all your work,
> Neil
