JOB DESCRIPTION
Hadoop Developer
Onsite in Cincinnati, OH
Temp to Perm
W2 only (No C2C or 1099)

The Data Warehousing team is responsible for the data integration processes in the Information Management space; concentrating on Data Warehouses and Data Marts.

  *   Loading data received from policy, claims, and reinsurance applications into the Enterprise Data Warehouse and the maintenance of the loading processes.
  *   Data aggregation for reporting and the maintenance of the aggregation processes.
  *   Building and maintaining aggregate data marts in support of business intelligence reporting and data analysis.
  *   Providing data for the Financial Data Warehouse, claims and reinsurance systems, and data marts.

The team also provides services to other groups in the organization who are in need of data integration expertise for their data migration and data conversion projects.

Experience:

  *   Software Engineering practices - developing enterprise applications
  *   Hadoop Development - managing and tuning Hadoop cluster and its ecosystem components (ex. Hive, Pig, Spark, HDFS, HBase, Oozie, Sqoop, Flume, Zookeeper, Kafka)
  *   Capacity Planning
  *   Strong experience of Linux administration, networking and security
  *   Experience of managing clustered services, distributed systems, production data stores

Pluses:

  *   Experience with Scripting for automation and configuration management
  *   Experience with Language skills: Java, Python, Shell, Perl, Scala, XML, JSOn
  *   Experience with Knowledge of analytics
  *   Experience with NoSQL database experience (MongoDB, Cassandra)
  *   Experience with leveraging cloud services
  *   Experience with Enterprise Scheduling (ex. UC4)
  *   Experience with Defect Management (ex. Quality Center, Jira, ServiceNow)
  *   Experience with SQL clients (ex. TOAD)
  *   Experience with Version Control (ex. Dimensions, TFS, GitHub)

Skills:

  *   Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  *   Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels within the organization.
  *   Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize and plan work to satisfy established timeframes.
  *   Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  *   Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  *   Must be self-motivated and take initiative.

Primary Responsibilities:
Development and Implementation

  *   Design, develop, test, debug, maintain, and document system components.
  *   Develop time estimates for project deliverables.
  *   Collaborate with end users and project team members on development of requirements, design, and testing of applications.
  *   Advise manager of risks, issues, and concerns.
  *   Learn new software tools and skills as needed
  *   Capable of raising up opportunities, enhancements, and process improvements.
  *   Other duties as assigned.
Production Support

  *   Assist customers and team members on issue resolution and problem solving.
  *   Assist team members in analysis, design, and testing of solutions.
  *   Participate in test planning, development, and execution for integration and system testing.
  *   Provide off hour production support.

Associated Responsibilities:

  *   Knowledge transfer to team members.
  *   Provide accurate and timely management status of work activity.
  *   Provide accurate and timely reporting of work hours.
  *   Establish an open relationship with customers, teammates, and other members of the organization.
