Good Morning Everyone,

As you know, this is a great time to be a Computer Science major.   In my previous position at Meijer, I was responsible for IT recruiting and my team recruited well over 200 people in three years.  Computer Science majors are in high demand!  Companies are literally at war for top talent in development, mobile, security, infrastructure, enterprise architecture, etc...

At Calvin, we want to ensure our students stand out!  This semester, we have designed a series of programs to assist students with preparing for the next phase of God's call on their lives.  We have targeted workshops on interviewing, preparing for a career fair, networking, etc...  We are having our first Career Development Conference on April 27.  During this time, a select number of students will be able to participate in an "Interview Intensive Bootcamp" where actual employers will interview students and provide real-time feedback.  As a former IT Recruiting Manager, oftentimes, hiring managers expressed concerns about tech talent not being able to articulate their strengths.  Gone are the days when Computer Science majors can just be head down programming.  More and more, companies need the combination of tech and soft skills to succeed.  Some of the most difficult positions I filled were Enterprise Architects and Mobile Developers because they had to not only understand the technical but be able to relate to the business.  Therefore, I am urging you to encourage your students to attend our workshops.  Attached are the flyer of spring events and also provided some cool updates on hiring trends from Randstad and DICE.
