Overview
The Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) has a full-time (40 hrs/wk) opening for a Salesforce Developer in our Grand Rapids, Michigan offices. This position will work within the applications team to (a) ensure the security and availability of key CRCNA data, (b) design, test, and implement changes to the database structure related to the CRCNA's multiple Salesforce.com org(s), and (c) work with users to facilitate their work related to data collection, data analysis, and business process, and develop new functionality using the Salesforce.com platform.
This is a 12 month position. The continued need for this position will be evaluated no later than December of 2018.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties include the following
1. Serve as an active participant of an applications team whose members are collaboratively responsible to carry out the above purpose. The team is responsible to the CRCNA IT Director. In the context of this team, the Database Administrator/Developer has the following specific responsibilities:
a. Accountable for a specific portfolio of Salesforce.com org(s) and/or tasks. These assignments will rotate over time to ensure cross training within this team.
b. Identify and solve complex problems both independently and with team members.
2. Design database structures, business logic, and user interfaces for CRCNA's Salesforce.com Org(s).
a. In conjunction with Database Architect, implement database structure changes in the context of the strategic and operational use of the database(s).
b. Investigate/evaluate the use of third party functionality as solutions to user needs where applicable.
c. Develop new functionality as appropriate using the Salesforce.com development platform (Apex, Visualforce, etc.)
d. Promote system stability & sustainability by following coding best practices and writing effective test coverage.
e. Design & execute usability tests with end system users.
f. Follow established change management and documentation practices.
3. Support end users in their pursuit of efficiency and effectiveness while not compromising the security of the systems.
a. Work with stakeholders to understand the current needs and anticipate future needs of various stakeholder groups within the organization.
b. Work with users across the organization to facilitate the work that they do related to data collection, data analysis, and business process.
c. Demonstrate Salesforce.com functionality to users individually or with groups of users. Provide/facilitate Salesforce.com training.
d. Communicate with users regarding changes to the Salesforce.com environment.
4. Support organization needs for data in decision making
a. Export, prepare, & transform data into formats needed for analysis, modeling, and decision-making.
b. Assist in preparing reports, dashboards, and visualization to aid understanding and decision-making.
c. Assist in developing predictive analytics using statistically modeling and machine learning techniques.
5. Proactively secure data and design system components that seek to manage and mitigate risk related to system use and data storage by doing the following:
a. Formulate testing plans to ensure database integrity and data security within our Salesforce.com Org(s) and work with users and other IT team members to execute the testing.Create data imports/exports.
b. In consultation with others on the Applications Team make adjustments to the data security plan related to user accounts and sensitive data types as directed.
c. Document plans and outcomes for both sandbox and production environments.
6. Assist in moving legacy applications and data stores to Salesforce.com.
a. Design, test, implement, and monitor data integrations between Salesforce.com and other systems.
b. Create data exports, exports and integrations as needed.
7. Under guidance from Senior Systems Analyst and Database Architect, collaborate with outside consultants/contractors by:
a. Preparing and managing scope documents.
b. Working directly with them on complex processes to ensure that we gain and maintain knowledge of our systems and their complexity with in-house staff.
8. Support the self-managing team in administration and team building.
a. Based on a broad understanding of the organization, participate in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future technology needs.
b. Participate in cost benefit analysis related to maintenance, security, and new technology implementations.
c. Participate in preparing, maintaining, and upholding standards and procedures.
d. Creature and maintain documentation related to tasks assigned, business procedures, and information vital for the department.
e. Participate in productive but vigorous critiquing of all work but especially new products and processes.
f. Coach and train fellow team members in procedures, processes and technologies
g. Participate in activities that enhance team function and team building.
9. Maintain current Salesforce.com Platform Developer certification and seek education/certification in Salesforce.com, Force.com or other relevant technologies.
