Subject: Job opening at NOAA GLERL

Keith and Joel,

Wondering if you have any alums who might be interested in this position: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__cnbjobs.com_jobs_noaa-2Dglerl-2Dengineer-2Dscientist-2Dii_&d=DwIGaQ&c=4rZ6NPIETe-LE5i2KBR4rw&r=zzLZx5LZ1XGPH-v7tq_ZkstXU36EEkGjVBQ57KQGE1c&m=AiJoJ87lNACAbr214qJ27S5bdzHgYoW1rCDcu-atPE8&s=U1GIPI9KTXKpwvTfO95mo_UJiwJ3QQyu5TUhnp2fENU&e=
The successful applicant would support my daughter’s work on the Great Lakes, especially Lake Erie. Her project has gained significant traction and media interest recently.

Here is an except of the job description:

CNSP is seeking a Coastal Observation Network Software Engineer/Scientist II at the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL)

JOB SUMMARY:
A coastal observation network with nodes on Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Erie, has been developed using real-time buoys, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), and unmanned air systems (UAS) to provide continuous observations of chemical, biological, and physical environmental parameters.

The system currently supports projects addressing harmful algal bloom (HAB) detection, human health observations related to beach closures and drinking water processing concerns, rip current warnings, and long-term ecosystem research.

Observing system development relies on wireless broadband technology and a network-based underwater hub designed to allow expansion via satellite nodes.

Do you have a mechanism for advertising positions to your alums?

Also, if you know others at Calvin who have alums who have significant programming experience and an interest in aquatic research, please let her know. Calvin grads are the best!

Many thanks,

Judy
