2025 Recruitment for Language Technology has officially launched with promising early momentum. A colleague and I visited California Polytechnic State University (CalPoly) in San Luis Obispo last week. It yielded significant engagement from potential candidates. The recruitment event was remarkably successful, generating overwhelming interest among emerging technology professionals. For those who like the statistics: we spoke with over 75 people, 58 people gave us their contact information, and we received 49 résumés. The majority of interested students demonstrated strong technical skills and commitment to meaningful service. Many expressed enthusiasm for contributing to language technology and translation initiatives.
In the coming months, we are actively seeking talented individuals passionate about leveraging technology to support language communities worldwide.

Robert Clementz joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1988. He and his wife have spent their entire married life with Wycliffe and SIL. Throughout the past 36 years, they have filled various significant roles.
Brian: What or who inspired you to be part of serving the Bible translation movement?
Robert: The first church I attended after accepting the Lord as my savior was in a small town in Southeastern Utah. We had missionaries visit and speak in our church three or more times per month. During that time, the Lord prompted me toward this great adventure.
Brian: I first met you over 20 years ago when you were teaching and coaching my son while we both served in Papua New Guinea. What did you do before coming to PNG?
Robert: My first assignment was in computer services with SIL in Dallas at the International Linguistics Center. I supervised a team of computer support and application training personnel.
Brian: You have been with SIL Language Technology for a couple of years now. What did you do before?
Robert: After returning from PNG, I served Wycliffe in their recruiting efforts - directing events, guiding young people on overseas experiences, and inspiring students in college settings. It was a natural flow to move into recruiting from teaching. Making an impact on people for their current and future growth keeps me pressing on.
Brian: What would you say about your colleagues throughout your career and currently?
Robert: My colleagues have shown a dedication to trust, serve, and rely on God. They bring the best out of each other by displaying grace and patience. It has been wonderful to work on a team of talented, like-minded people dedicated to one purpose - bringing God's Word to those that need it most.
