The computer science department presents Brian Harleton, from X-Rite, Inc., as speaker at the department's colloquium.

Title: Developing Software for Interactive Hardware devices

Abstract: Developing software to communicate with hardware can be extremely satisfying when your code triggers real-world interactions. However, whether your hardware is a printer, microscope, or an Xbox Kinect, this can be one of the most challenging software endeavors. Brian Harleton has been writing software that interacts with Spectrophotometers at X-Rite for over 10 years. His talk will discuss the various challenges and pitfalls and best practices when working with interactive hardware devices.

The colloquium will meet Thursday, October 24, in SB 110, at 3:20 p.m.
