Hello all!

CalvinHacks is happening tomorrow! Here's a message from the CalvinHacks team:

Hi Calvin Students!

We are happy to invite you to this year's CalvinHacks Hackathon 2021, which will take place March 26th-27th! In a hackathon, attendees work in small teams over a 24-hour period to create something they deem useful or enjoyable (popular examples are apps, websites, and hardware-centric systems. At the conclusion of the event, participants can enter judging for a chance to win prizes.

Knowing that COVID-19 still exists, this year we decided to bring the event safely to you! Our event will be held online from 6:00 pm Friday to 6:00 pm Saturday, and everyone is welcome to sign up any time before the event. More information and instructions on how to join remotely will be sent out to those who sign up through our website https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__calvinhacks.org_&d=DwIFAg&c=4rZ6NPIETe-LE5i2KBR4rw&r=RETd07_84AAWNHy3_XnGfu607BBOainWRNg8YFxnWIU&m=EXK3PpQZuZUtJzFKAK6GD2EN79A4OKsvrWDmB7YMZK4&s=b-M4wvykAib8fPrHy_8v3Ev7zI3iOO15ZBH_fE-jKWk&e= <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__calvinhacks.org_&d=DwMF-g&c=4rZ6NPIETe-LE5i2KBR4rw&r=D-8GoNe8_LqUlcZc5SRpALoAqH4CsAopIg2F8OG1upQ&m=M5ufETsKxW5zB0PEtytb7thTtggvBSPny_Ltd7L05cI&s=e9w10NkkeQ6X6qvr3K_VFdmCkcpw3ROl3AB4BdcH1DU&e=>

As for Calvin students, you guys are welcome to participate in our event (for a 10 hour period) in person while strictly following all of Calvin's COVID requirements and guidelines<https://calvin.edu/covid-response/>.

Even though it is unfortunate that we are not able to see everyone face to face this year, we still want to make sure this online event has everything for you.

So... What are some of the things we should look forward to in this year's hackathon?

  1. Networking and Job Opportunities - We are very blessed to have amazing, successful companies sponsor us and have them join us remotely this year! If you are still looking for internship opportunities, mentorship, or professional relationships, this is the event for you! We have companies such as Steelcase, Atomic Object, Tekton, and SpinDance joining us.
  2. Prizes - Our previous 1st place winners won a drone (2019) and an Arduino kit (2020)
  3. Friendship - This is a great way to socialize and meet other intelligent, passionate programmers!
  4. Seminars and Workshops - Some previous topics we were able to introduce were Intro to Python, Internet of Things, Game Development, etc.

CalvinHacks has helped people connect, compete, and challenge themselves in many ways, so we hope that you will be able to join us this year!
