I will forward more information as it becomes available, but for IS and Data Science students, this could be an opportunity for an internship.

Subject: CI Summer Student Volunteer Program 2017

Hello Marilyn,

Strategy is excited to inform you CI will be re-announcing the very popular Investigative Analyst Student Volunteer Program (SVP). Barring any unforeseen glitches, the SVP announcement will open on Monday, February 27th and close on Friday, March 3rd . The SVP is a twelve-week summer program beginning on May 29th and ending on August 18th. These dates can be adjusted to accommodate your office's specific needs. There will also be an opportunity to extend your student(s) for up to six months.

Each field office is authorized to select up to 3 students in any POD you desire, plus there will be 3 students going to HQ. This is a smaller number of slots than last summer; primarily, due to budget constraints and lack of available laptops.

The SVP is a federal government volunteer service program governed through a reciprocal agreement between, the student, college/university and CI and it offers college students the opportunity to work with Special Agents and Professional Staff performing a wide variety of Investigative Analyst work and other duties.

During this assignment, student volunteers will supplement their education with creditable experience in public service. In some cases, students will also earn college credit. CI will have the chance to expose students to our mission and organizational goals with the intention of fostering future interest in a career with CI.

The timeline for the SVP is on the fast track. CI's servicing employment office plans to have certificates issued to the field and HQ by March 24th. We also hope to have field office and HQ interviews conducted during the week of April 10th with selections being made shortly thereafter. Strategy will provide set interview questions to ensure consistency. We are also recommending diverse, three-member interview panels for this initiative. However, this is not a requirement.

Candidates who are selected will be required to sign an MOU between CI and their college/university. The MOU will not be available to students until after tentative offers are made. Also, this position requires students to complete a pre-employment background check that will include fingerprinting, drug testing and a tax check to ensure they are fully tax compliant. Students will be responsible for arraigning college credit agreements with their schools.

We will also be announcing a small number of SVP opportunities in the forensics lab, EDI and possibly TOIS and HR.
