*About this Job*

This position aids the Hekman Library Technology Department with assorted
computer-related tasks. Examples include web development, computer
maintenance, and data entry. Other routine library tasks will also be
assigned as needed. Experience with open source communities is preferred.


*Primary Responsibilities*

   - Create or edit library web content using the content management system
   - Install, configure, and support library specific workstation/client
   software
   - Develop small programming projects within specific guidelines
   - Create or improve documentation of library systems, interfaces,
   workflows, decisions and projects

*Desired Skills, Abilities and Qualifications*

   - Working knowledge of web page development and content management
   systems
   - Experience with web technologies (Minimally HTML and JavaScript; also
   useful are PHP, Perl, Python, and the Django framework)
   - Experience with version control systems (Git, Bazaar, etc.)
   - Ability to provide multiple solutions to a problem, with a basic
   assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each
   - Ability to communicate clearly on detailed subjects, taking initiative
   to ask questions when not understanding

There may be opportunities to combine this position with other library
positions if full-time work is desired, and also for the position to
continue into the fall semester.
