i3 is looking for a help desk Level 1 Intern IT Support Technician. This person will join up with the i3 service team and provide support services and resolution for technology issues.

Hours: 20-30 hours per week (available immediately)
Pay Rate: Starting at $14.00 an hour
Department: Service and Support
Reports to: Support Center Manager

This is a great opportunity for a student working towards an Information Technology Network Management and Server Management related major (Junior or Senior year requirement). You will be part of a growing and leading West Michigan based IT managed service practice team providing outsourcing services designed for small to midsize businesses. Learn the practice from the ground up. Work with a team of skills professionals to develop your client facing communications skills and be exposed to service operations and service delivery for:

The i3 Service Team is consistent, efficient and smart. This is what we require from you.
Of course, an i3 technician needs to have technical ability. And since i3 is a Managed Service Provider, that's only one bit in the byte. In order to support our large client base and variety of work, other requirements for the job include personality, reliability and industry exposure. Here's the detail.

Technical ability: Desktop experience is important. Microsoft server environments are big, but also virtualization. Over time, be ready to support these, as well as anything else you'd find in a mid-sized business network. If you're looking for keywords, please consider: Windows Server, Azure, Exchange, Active Directory, GPOs, virtualization, SAN & NAS, Office 365, SharePoint, StorageCraft, WatchGuard, Cisco, firewalls, routing, and wireless.

Personality: From within i3, you need to get along with the service team, so be ready to interview with several of them. The support center consists of technicians who care about the environments they support and the people behind those businesses. This is not a heads-down environment. We select for the skill of human interaction. Any technician at the company must be able to interact positively with all. While the majority of work will be done over the phone, onsite client visits are also part of the job.

Reliability: This last piece is so important, we've named one of our service offerings after it. Be dependable. Account for your work. Do an excellent job even though no one has asked you to do so. Be able to operate independently. If you need help, the team is there, but on a "regular" day, it's great to know we have each other's backs.

i3 is only interested in hiring those who have the above traits. The life of an IT Intern at i3 is not easy, and it's not for everyone. We are very selective in who we add to the team. i3 Business Solutions is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan - we are looking for a technician to perform the work at our offices in downtown Grand Rapids.

  *   Technical tools aptitude and experience a plus (documentation systems, professional services automation, remote management and remediation, ticketing)
  *   Demonstrable passion for your work

  *   Must present well to clients
  *   Receives positive client feedback
  *   Provide a professional, high-quality support experience for all
  *   Can move beyond technical issues, and is able to see technology's impact on business priorities
  *   Has a career path pointed at networks, servers, virtualization, storage, and IP Routing
  *   Has a career path pointed at industry certifications. Examples of certifications include CompTIA Network & A+, Microsoft MCP, Microsoft MCSA, VMware, Cisco CCNA
  *   Is willing to learn.

This job is part-time hourly and, given proven skills and ability, there is potential for a full time future career path after graduation. The pay scale is based on your level of experience. The more of the above abilities you possess, the higher your value to our clients, our team, and i3.
