For those who just graduated and are hunting entry-level positions, the local job market is definitely tighter than it used to be. The newsletter below contains several bits with good advice; here’s one of them:
“Getting a new job might have taken 3 months a year ago, and it may now take 6 to 9 months or longer. The best advice, say tech recruiters, is to stay positive, work your network of contacts, and look for new ways to enhance your resume.”
And here’s another:
“…many applicants may not realize or appreciate how many [transferable] skills they have gained from day-to-day activities, volunteering or early jobs. And these are exactly the types of base skills that you can put on your CV when applying for new positions, thereby boosting the chances that you will land your dream job.”

The agency estimated that by allowing people more freedom, the change would lead to the creation of 8,500 new businesses annually, and an average annual pay increase of $524 for workers.
