Good Afternoon,

My name is Traci Montgomery (Calvin alum and former CSR employee with Neil Carlson). Neil passed along your names, and I'm thinking I have met both of you briefly in the past.

I'm currently the Community Organizer for Friendly Code, our Code for America brigade here in GR, and I have a last minute request of an event to forward to any potentially interested students or alum. I think Allen Clark, one of our captains forwarded this on a week or so ago, but I wanted to make sure that it had been received.

We are hosting an event tomorrow evening (10/20) and are always looking to get more folks involved. Below is the event information that can be shared.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks so much!
Traci

It's clear that fall is descending-crisper temperatures are here. With that we are excited to invite past, current, and future volunteers together to launch our new Friendly Code projects for the fall.

Friendly Code is the Grand Rapids chapter of Code for America, a national organization dedicated to making government services simple, effective, and easy to use. We partner with city, county, and state government agencies to help support open data efforts and utilize that data to create great tools for citizens across the city. We are a community of both coders and non-coders passionate about health & human services, economic development, safety & justice, and communication & engagement.

We will hear from a panel of City Officials discuss the role of open data and technology in delivering government services for Grand Rapids. The panel will include:

  *   Mayor-Elect Rosalynn Bliss
  * Development Center Coordinator, Lou Canfield
  *   Commissioner Ruth Kelly
  * 311 Service Center Manager Becky Jo Glover

We will then be discussing current community data and upcoming project opportunities. More importantly, we'll be enjoying plenty of pizza and other fine GR culinary arrangements.

Please share with friends that might be interested.
